My name is Huda, I’m 42 years old. I have been living in the street around 6 years ago since my husband died. I have two daughters, one is 8 years old and the other is 10 years old. We didn't have a place to stay anymore since my husband died and he left a lot of debt that we had to pay after he died. We are from East Java, and we moved to Bali to beg. We were going to move to Jakarta because people said there are so many people in Jakarta to beg and most of the homeless people got quite a lot of money from begging in Jakarta. But then I heard there are so many criminals as well and at that time my daughters were still infants. I didn’t want to risk it. We have no choice other than move from here because no one wanted to help us not even our own family. So we moved to Bali and ended up in Ubud. People are so nice in here, it’s not difficult to find a place to stay at night, I mean not really a place with a roof on it but a place that is safe for us to sleep in. My daughters are growing and growing and they started to help me, they don’t beg, but they’re selling tissues around which is good. I used to cry during the night when my two little daughters are asleep because I was thinking about how am I going to provide an education for them since the money we have got is only enough for a living. I hope that someday my daughters can have a proper education without me worrying about the money because we all deserve a proper education but not all of us can afford it. But if there is no school for homeless people like us especially in Indonesia, Indonesia is losing a lot of potential people that might change the world for the better, because they’re not given a chance to even make a move.
